Job Description

The position

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic UK & Ireland Marketing Director to lead our marketing function across the region. As the Marketing Director, you will oversee a diverse and talented team of 25 marketing professionals, managing the local marketing strategy and execution across both countries. This is a high-profile, leadership position within the organisation, requiring a proven track record in FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) marketing, a deep understanding of media and communications, and the ability to drive creativity and innovation in bringing products to market.

Key responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership & Team Management:
    Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing marketing team, ensuring alignment with overall Global & local business objectives. Provide clear direction and coaching to 6 direct reports and a total of 25 marketing professionals across various disciplines including brand management, digital marketing, consumer insights, communications, and media planning. Quickly assesses talent and invests in people to build successors. Ability to represent the Marketing function within the Leadership team, but also to be a broader business leader on holistic topics required to continuously improve the organisational.
  • Market Strategy Development:
    Shape and execute comprehensive, portfolio and market specific marketing strategies for the UK and Ireland that align with broader company goals. Ensure a deep understanding of local consumer behaviours, market trends, and competitive landscapes to drive business top and bottom-line growth.
  • Product Launches & Go-To-Market Planning:
    Oversee the planning and execution of successful product launches across both markets, ensuring alignment with brand positioning and market needs. Drive innovation in go-to-market strategies, using a variety of channels to maximize reach and consumer engagement.
  • Media & Communications Expertise:
    Develop and implement media strategies across a wide range of platforms, including digital, PR, social, and broadcast. Leverage traditional and digital media to drive brand awareness and sales growth, ensuring effective ROI on marketing spend.
  • Creative Direction & Brand Development:
    Champion creativity across all marketing initiatives, ensuring that campaigns are fresh, relevant, and compelling. Work closely with creative teams and agencies to develop impactful campaigns that resonate with target audiences and reinforce brand values.
  • Stakeholder Management:
    Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Central Research and Development Go-to- Market teams, and Supply Chain, to ensure seamless execution of marketing initiatives. Serve as a key liaison with senior leadership and external partners, including media agencies and vendors.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making:
    Use data and analytics to track campaign performance, consumer insights, and market trends. Regularly report on KPIs and provide actionable insights to senior leadership to drive continuous improvement.
  • Budget Management:
    Oversee the marketing budgets for the UK and Ireland markets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and a focus on high-impact activities that deliver measurable results.                                                                     

Qualifications

Professional experience & characteristics

  • Blue chip FMCG: 10+ yrs. of experience in commercial roles in one of the leading global FMCG companies

 

  • Communication skills: Excellent communicator, persuasive, able to operate & collaborate at different levels inside and outside the organisation. Strong influencing, motivation, and networking skills

 

  • Business acumen: Has a high energy level, is a self-starter, brings genuine new strategic and practical insights and ideas to the organization, able to convert chances into opportunities, but has a good sense of risk management.

 

  • Result oriented: Ambitious and excellence driven with a passion for driving outstanding (fixed) business results with a passion for details.

 

  • Accountability Holds self and others accountable for business results and how they are achieved.

       Has an optimistic “can do” approach. Provides focus and drive to overcome obstacles and get the     

       results we want.

 

  • Multiple stakeholder management: Experienced in management of a complex internal and external stakeholder network with different needs out of the same project.
