🔬 About the R&D Team
Our Global R&D Centre in Utrecht drives product innovation across coffee and tea.
We focus on building long-term Technology Platforms and delivering smart, sustainable New Product Developments (NPD) — in close collaboration with teams across Marketing, Operations, and Procurement.
📦 The Role: R&D Packaging Category Specialist
We’re looking for someone methodical, curious, and detail-oriented — ready to take ownership of packaging material specifications that meet safety, sustainability, quality, and efficiency standards.
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys structure, precision, and making tangible impact through technical expertise.
🎯 What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll be part of a diverse and collaborative team, and your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the development of packaging specifications and ensuring regulatory compliance
- Planning and executing plant trials (NL & international)
- Creating and maintaining technical drawings and specs in our internal systems
- Supporting projects across NPD, geo-expansion, renovation, and sustainability
- Running lab tests, developing methods, and driving shelf-life evaluations
- Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and external suppliers
- Staying ahead of innovations in materials, manufacturing, and testing
Qualifications

We’re not looking for perfection — we’re looking for precision, passion, and potential. You might be a great fit if you have:
- A BSc in Packaging, Engineering, or a scientific field
- 2+ years of experience in packaging development (FMCG preferred)
- Strong analytical and reporting skills
- A quality-first mindset, with a structured and methodical approach
- Experience in working with cross-functional stakeholders (R&D, Ops, Procurement)
- Confidence in decision-making and technical ownership
- Fluent English (another EU language is a plus)
- Bonus: Green Belt certification or experience in root cause analysis
