Job Description

The role of the Junior Key Account Manager (KAM) involves building and managing relationships with key customers to drive revenue growth, increase market share and develop long terms strategies while maintaining healthy financials with full P&L responsibility.

The Junior Key Account Manager reports to the National Key Accounts Manager: Shoprite Checkers.

Roles & Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the development of sales strategies, aimed at the achievement or surpassing of pre-determined sales objectives for supporting the growth of the company’s business (WD, referencing, range, shelf, activation, revenue management, full P&L accountability).  
  • Deal with large national accounts and be in charge of the expansion of sales, introducing new products/services to clients and executing category developing strategies tailored to the account.
  • Full P&L accountability Under supervision of NAM.
  • Coordination with the Shopper marketing, RGM and other cross-functional teams
  • Collaborate with the Brand team on developing key account opportunities.
  • Achieve the annual objectives pre-established by the Company based on the company’s sales and promotional policy.
  • Implement the Company’s sales policy, adapting it to the client’s situation; defend PVPs + negotiate net invoice amounts + introduction of new products + “close” brochures and publications + develop other projects (e.g., Management by Category); etc.
  • Analysis and follow up of client profitability.
  • Regularly manage each client’s budget, seeking maximum payback for each action.
  • Drive accuracy in forecasting and alignment between JDE and the customer.
  • Negotiate annual agreements based on forecasts, seeking the maximum of counterparts. Preparation of sales forecasts for the client.
  • Work with the “Shopper marketing” team to ensure regular activities in the stores, in addition to obtaining the best standards of execution in the point of sales.

 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Tertiary education with relevant business degree (ie) B. Comm or Sales and Marketing Degree

Experience:

  • 1 - 2 years’ experience in Sales Department as Regional Account;
  • Market research reports understanding (Nielsen; TNS);
  • FMCG/CPG dynamics knowledge;
  • Good knowledge of MS office
  • Managing a full P&L
