Regional Buyer Packaging Materials

Procurement Utrecht Full-time Netherlands

Job Description

To start with, the position of Regional Buyer – Packaging Materials sits comfortably in the Regional Buying / Procurement organisation. An incredibly diverse team that helps each other learn, grow and develop — just how we like it!

As a Regional Buyer – Packaging Materials, you will play a pivotal role in delivering JDE Peet’s global Procurement ambition. You will drive simplification and productivity across packaging categories, shaping sourcing strategies and securing an uninterrupted supply of quality packaging materials for our European factories. You will also lead strategic, cross-functional programmes such as PPWR (Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation) compliance and Specification Simplification initiatives.

For this, we don’t just need you to be a knowledgeable procurement professional; we also rely on your ability to influence, collaborate and lead others through complexity and change. You will have a crucial role in creating and protecting the impact we look for across our value chain.

With this said, we’d like you to take responsibility for the following tasks:

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional workstreams for large strategic agendas (PPWR compliance, product & material simplification) across European packaging categories,
  • Identify and deliver productivity and optimisation initiatives together with R&D, ensuring compliance with new regulations,
  • Prepare and execute status reports to senior stakeholders (Procurement, Supply Chain, Finance, R&D, Marketing), highlighting risks and proposing clear, actionable solutions,
  • Drive cross-functional tender implementation and introduction of new suppliers, materials and specifications across all relevant factories,
  • Act as a key driver of packaging simplification and optimisation with R&D and partners across the supply chain,
  • Provide internal and external supply chain expertise to support sourcing strategy development with the Global Strategic Sourcing Team,
  • Ensure uninterrupted supply of high-quality packaging materials through strong collaboration with factories,
  • Establish periodic supplier performance reviews with internal and external stakeholders,
  • Identify, develop and deliver value-chain optimisation opportunities,
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies & procedures and the JDE Combined Business Model,
  • Mentor and coach junior buyers within the regional procurement organisation

Qualifications

We are looking for a strategic, influential procurement professional with a drive for excellence. Someone who takes accountability, thrives in dynamic environments, and doesn’t shy away from complexity. Given the strategic and cross-functional nature of the role, we feel it’s important you bring strong experience in packaging procurement and cross-functional leadership.

We thrive in diverse teams and look for people who appreciate that as much as we do. While we can give you a list of “must-haves,” we ultimately look at the bigger picture. However, to give you guidance, here is our list of what’s important in this role:

Nice to Have

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience across multiple packaging categories
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams with a focus on total cost of ownership
  • Strong project management and leadership capabilities
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-influencing skills
  • Proven track record in delivering complex, multi-market projects
  • Strong understanding of packaging specifications, simplification opportunities and value-chain optimisation
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and adapt to ambiguity and change
  • Passion for operational excellence and continuous improvement
