Job Description

The Supply Chain Excellence Specialist is responsible for driving end‑to‑end optimisation and continuous improvement across planning, logistics, and customer service. The role focuses on identifying and executing initiatives that reduce cost‑to‑serve, improve service levels, and strengthen planning accuracy. This includes analysing performance data, uncovering root causes, and translating insights into practical solutions and standardised best practices. The specialist will also enable effective KPI monitoring and performance reporting, support collaborative value‑creation with key customers and suppliers, and help embed a culture of accountability and operational excellence.

Through strong cross-functional and external engagement, the role ensures alignment on priorities and delivers measurable supply chain improvements. The specialist will independently identify improvement opportunities across various disciplines and provide hands-on operational support where needed.

Key Responsibilities:

 

Supply Chain Optimization & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify, quantify and implement continuous improvement initiatives across planning, logistics and customer service.
  • Drive cost-reduction programs while maintaining or improving service levels and reducing inventory.
  • Apply structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, root cause analysis).
  • Standardize best practices and improve process governance across the supply chain.
  • Analyse customer behavior and logistics cost drivers to optimize cost to serve within the Warehouse and Distribution network.
  • Improve planning accuracy through enhanced collaborative planning processes.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to help improve planning accuracy within the supply chain.
  • Analyze trends, variances, and key drivers impacting accuracy, drawing from various relevant sources including customer and market information.
  • Partner with key customers and suppliers to identify joint value-creation opportunities.
  • Facilitate cross-organizational workshops and performance reviews aimed at joint value creation.

Performance Management & Analytics

  • Develop and monitor key supply chain KPIs (forecast accuracy, OTIF, inventory turns, cost-to-serve).
  • Translate data into actionable insights, using latest technology.
  • Present performance dashboards and recommendations to senior leadership.

Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership

  • Influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
  • Build strong relationships across commercial, operations, finance, and external partners.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Plan and implement initiatives and drive results independently.

 

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or related field (Postgraduate qualification advantageous).

Additional Information

Experience and skill set 

  • 5+ years’ supply chain experience within FMCG.
  • Proven experience across planning, logistics and customer service.
  • Demonstrated success in leading continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in ERP systems and planning tools (SAP, OMP, PowerBI).
  • Experience working directly with customers and suppliers in collaborative improvement initiatives.
